Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: Odisha Police headquarters today said that the HC-monitored SIT probe is moving in the right direction and refutes 'cover-up' allegation against the Special Investigation Team (SIT) currently probing the murder of minor girl in Nayagarh. “The team has been diligently working out clues. Large number of people has been examined in the process and significant progress has been made. The entire village has extended cooperation in the investigation. However such unfounded allegation by one person has been used to cast aspersions on the investigation agency. It may end up demotivating officers who are sincerely working to unearth the truth. It is both unfortunate and unethical,” read a release of Odisha Police. Odisha police further requested people and media to allow the SIT to complete its work. “Odisha Police is committed to fair and diligent investigation. We assure that no stone will be left unturned to ensure justice for Paree,” added the release. Earlier in the day Odisha unit of the BJP has demanded the removal of IPS officer Arun Bothra as the head of the SIT. The BJP made the demand after one Saroj Sethi of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district accused Bothra of offering him Rs 5 lakh to own up the crime.
