Bhubaneswar, July 5: The Odisha Police Officers’ Association has called for a high-level probe into the death of lady Inspector Beauty Mohanty, urging authorities to complete the investigation within 30 days.
Association President Asit Jena said the incident should not be treated as a routine case of unnatural death, considering that the deceased was a gazetted police officer.
“We demand that a high-level investigation team probe the case and submit its report within 30 days. This should not be viewed merely as a UD case. We also want to ensure that such incidents do not occur again,” Jena said.
The association also expressed concern over the increasing workload within the police force, alleging that officers are often denied adequate leave due to mounting work pressure.
Jena said the association expects a fair and transparent investigation, with full cooperation from the Director General of Police (DGP), the Commissioner of Police, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
Lady Inspector Beauty Mohanty was found hanging in her official restroom on the first floor of Chauliaganj Police Station in Cuttack on Saturday morning, sending shockwaves through the police department.
