Odisha plans to reserve 1610 general beds and 610 ICU beds for children for third wave of Covid-19

Bhubaneswar, June 6: In a bid to tackle the possible third wave of Covid-19, Odisha government has planned to reserve 1610 general beds and 610 ICU beds for children. Additional Chief Secretary of Health, P.K Mohaptra today wrote to Superintendents of Medical Colleges, Municipal Commissioners and District Collectors for Covid management during the possible third wave. He has asked all District Headquarters Hospital and Sub-divisional Hospitals to earmark at least 10 beds for isolation of the suspected cases and to take steps for transfer of the symptomatic patients to the appropriate COVID Care Facilities. Besides Community Health Centres have also been asked to earmark 2 to 4 beds as isolation bed for management of suspected cases until they get transferred to appropriate facility. All other COVID Care Centre's having ICU facilities have been asked to earmark 15% of the capacity to be earmarked for paediatric patient including NICU and PICU care and isolation.
