
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s para badminton players have once again brought glory to the nation by delivering outstanding performances in the 1st ABIA Para Badminton International 2025, which was held in Nigeria.
The Indian contingent, led by Odisha’s ace para shuttlers, showcased remarkable skill and determination, earning multiple medals across various categories and bagged four gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Pramod Bhagat won gold in the SL3 men’s singles event by defeating Mantu Kumar of India by 2-1 (21-7,9-21,21-9). Pramod also won two more gold medals in the SL3 SL4 men’s doubles and mixed doubles (SL3-SU5) categories.
Nurul Hossain Khan won a silver medal in the men’s (WH-2) and he also won a gold medal in the men’s doubles (WH1-WH2) categories.
Kuldeep Mahakul and Biswas Ranjan Panda won a bronze medal each in the men’s singles (SL-4) and in the men’s doubles (SU-5) categories respectively.
These exceptional results highlight Odisha’s growing strength in para badminton under the guidance and support of the Para Sports Association of Odisha (PSAO) and the Department of Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha.
The achievements of these athletes reflect their relentless hard work, discipline, and passion for the sport. Their success continues to inspire young para-athletes across the country to pursue excellence in international arenas.
