Bhubaneswar: Odisha bagged three medals including one gold, two bronze medals in the Peru Para Badminton International Level 2 Tournament 2025, held from 11-17 August 2025, in Lima, Peru.
Odisha’s para shuttlers showcased resilience, talent, and international-level competitiveness, bringing pride to the state.
Deep Ranjan Bisoyee partnering with Manoj Sarkar (India) bagged the gold medal in the Men’s Doubles SL3-SU4 category by defeating Diogo Daniel (Portugal) and Matthew Thomas (France) by 22-20, 21-11. In the semifinals, they beat M Avila Sosa (Mexico) and W Roussy (Canada) 21-8 and 21-10.
Deep Ranjan defeated Andre Silva A of Brazil by 21-8, 21-3 in the Men’s SL-4 singles quarterfinals. However, in the semifinals, Deep suffered defeat from R Oliviera (Brazil) in a hard-fought decider 4-21, 23-21 and 15-21, earning the bronze medal.
Another Odia athlete Md Arwaz Ansari partnering Subhrajeet Maharana (India) won a bronze medal for the Country in the Men’s Doubles SL3-SL4.
