Keonjhar, May 1: In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old migrant laborer from Odisha’s Keonjhar district was allegedly tied with wire and brutally beaten to death in Chennai.
The deceased has been identified as Madhusudan Naik (30), a native of Kumunia village under Ghasipura police limits in the district.
According to sources, Madhusudan’s family received shocking news on Wednesday that he had died. Along with the notification, a disturbing photograph allegedly showing his hands tied with thick wire and his bloodied body was also sent to the family.
They claimed that the image clearly indicated that Madhusudan was tied and brutally assaulted which led to his death.
The concerned authorities in Chennai reportedly recovered his body from a forested area and issued an official notification asking the family to collect it. However, due to financial constraints, Madhusudan’s relatives were unable to travel to Chennai or arrange for the body’s return.
Despite making several appeals to the local administration and the Labour Department, the family alleges that no substantial assistance was provided. As a result, the body was reportedly cremated in Chennai without the presence of any family members.
Former Sarpanch of Gohira panchayat has stepped in, collecting relevant details from the family. He stated that efforts will be made to approach the Keonjhar district collector to bring back Naik’s remains.
As of the latest reports, there has been no official response from the district administration or local police authorities regarding the incident.
