Angul, May 15: In a tragic incident, an employee of National Aluminium Company (NALCO) died after two bikes collided head-on near Banarpal Hat Chhak in Odisha’s Angul district last night.
The deceased NALCO employee has been identified as Ganeshwar Raut (55), a resident of Banarpal.
According to reports, the mishap took place around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday when Ganeshwar was returning home from work on his bike. As he neared Banarpal Hat Chhak, another bike coming from the opposite direction hit him head-on and fled the scene.
Under the impact of the collision, Ganeshwar was thrown off his bike, and sustained a severe head injury.
Local people jumped to his rescue and rushed him to Banarpal Hospital for initial treatment. As his health condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) where the attending doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Upon getting the information, police registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem. The body was later handed over to the family.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
