Odisha Minister warns strict action against those disrespecting Tricolour

Bhubaneswar, Aug 9: Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari has warned of strict action against anyone found disrespecting the national flag ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 15.

Pujari urged people to show respect for the Tricolour and recite “Vande Mataram,” while criticising those who refuse to do so.

“Love the tricolor, say Vande Mataram. Even now, some people refuse to recite Vande Mataram. This is an anti-patriotic attitude. There were people who loved the British then, there are still some such people today,” Pujari said.

The Minister made it clear that any act of disrespect towards the national flag or what he described as patriotism would not be tolerated, asserting that the government would take appropriate action against those found violating the norms.

With Independence Day approaching, the state government has also directed officials across districts to ensure that the national flag is handled and displayed with due respect during celebrations.
