Bhubaneswar, June 4: As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government completed two years in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday described June 4 as a “revolutionary and glorious day” in the state’s political history.
The BJP came to power in Odisha after ending the 24-year-long rule of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in the 2024 Assembly elections. The results were declared on June 4, 2024, and the party formed its first-ever government in the state, with Mohan Charan Majhi taking oath as Chief Minister on June 12, 2024.
The day marks the second anniversary of the election verdict that brought a major political shift in Odisha.
In a message to the people of the state, the Chief Minister said the “historic and decisive mandate” not only led to the formation of a “strong government” but also ended “long-standing stagnation” and laid the foundation for a “transparent, prosperous, and progressive Odisha.”
Highlighting the Centre-State coordination, CM Majhi said the “double-engine government,” guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has ushered in a new phase of development in Odisha over the past two years. He said this collaboration has strengthened governance and accelerated welfare-oriented initiatives.
The Chief Minister further stated that his government remains committed to administrative transparency, accountability, and inclusive development across all sections of society. He added that the trust of the people has strengthened the government’s resolve to make Odisha a leading state in India.
Calling for collective effort, Majhi urged citizens to join what he described as a “great yajna” of building a “Prosperous Odisha” alongside the vision of a “Developed India.”
In a post on his official X handle, the Chief Minister reiterated that the mandate of June 4, 2024, marked a turning point in Odisha’s political journey, breaking stagnation and setting the state on a new development path.
He concluded by appealing for unity and participation in the state’s development journey, aiming to take Odisha to the “pinnacle of prosperity.”
