Odisha: Maoist camp dismantled, arms and ammunition seized in Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar, January 22: A joint operation by the district police and central forces has resulted in a significant breakthrough against Maoist activities in Kandhamal district.

On Thursday morning, the Special Operations Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a large-scale combing operation in the Ganggel forest area near the Kandhamal–Kalahandi border. They discovered and dismantled a Maoist camp, seizing 13 firearms, walkie-talkies, solar panels, electrical wires, medicines, and other supplies used by the insurgents.

Officials suspect the camp served as a temporary hideout and logistical base for Maoist cadres. Although several items were recovered, authorities believe that some hardcore Maoists may still be hiding in the surrounding forests. The combing operation continues as security forces maintain heightened vigilance in the region.
