Malkangiri, Aug 17: In a tragic incident, a woman was allegedly thrashed to death by her husband after she refused to serve him alcohol in M.V. 79 area of Odisha's Malkangiri district on Saturday. He didn’t stop there and went on to insert a stick into her private parts
The victim has been identified as Pravati Kunj (38) and the incident has been reported from Ginipalli village under M.V. 79 police limits.
As per reports, her husband, identified as Bheema Kunj, was a regular drinker who would often assault her when drunk.
On Saturday, Pravati had invited some workers to help on their farmland and, following tribal tradition, served them homemade country liquor—except for her husband. This made Bheema furious, and he attacked her with a spade on the farmland, beating her to death.
In a further act of violence, he is said to have inserted a stick into her private parts.
Villagers who witnessed the horrific scene managed to overpower Bheema and handed him over to the police. Following a complaint, the M.V. 79 police detained him and started an investigation.
The cops have also seized the woman’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
