Puri, Sept 19: In a tragic incident, a 34-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle crashed into an electric pole on Konark-Puri Marine Drive in Odisha on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Surendra Behera, a resident of Tikana village under Chandrabhaga police station limits in Puri district.

As per reports, the mishap took place in the afternoon when Surendra was returning to his village after a trip to Konark when he suddenly lost control of his motorcycle. The ill-fated two-wheeler swerved off the road and collided with an electric pole.

Some local people alerted the fire brigade, which arrived at the scene and rushed Surendra to the Gop Community Health Centre (CHC). Unfortunately, the attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the body for post-mortem.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the accident, said the police.
