Odisha: Man hacked to death by nephew over property dispute

​​​​​​​Jagatsinghpur, Oct 6: In a gruesome incident, a man was brutally hacked to death by his nephew reportedly over a long-standing property dispute in Tirtol area of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district late last night.

The deceased has been identified as Manoj Swain (46), while the accused is Paresh Swain.

As per reports, the incident took place in Sarikhi village under Tirtol police limits in the district when a heated argument ensued between the uncle-nephew duo over a dispute. The situation soon escalated and took a violent turn when Paresh, in fit of rage, started attacking Manoj with a sword.

Manoj sustained grave injuries in the attack and collapsed on the spot. Thereafter, his family members rushed him to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. As his health condition showed signs of deterioration, doctors referred him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries while being taken to Cuttack.

Meanwhile, police, upon getting the information, arrived at the scene and detained the accused for questioning. The cops also seized the body of the deceased and sent it for post-mortem.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
