Baripada, Sept 15: In a tragic twist of fate, a man lost his life in a road accident while bringing his father’s body home for cremation in Thakurmunda block of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

According to reports, Gopabandhu Nayak (65) from Mituani village in Thakurmunda block had been suffering from chest pain due to complications related to high blood pressure and eventually lost consciousness.

His only son, Shubh, rushed him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where Gopabandhu was declared dead.

Later on Sunday, after bringing his father’s body back to Thakurmunda in an ambulance, Shubh stopped near Madhapur to fetch water. As he stepped out of the ambulance, tragedy struck when a pickup van hit him, causing severe injuries, including fractures to both legs and one arm. He was immediately taken to Jajpur Road Hospital, but was later referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to the critical nature of his injuries.

Unfortunately, Shubh succumbed to his injuries before reaching SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the body for post-mortem.

The family has been left shattered by this double tragedy, and the entire community is in deep shock.
