Bhubaneswar, Feb 24: The Opposition in Odisha Assembly today raised questions on the statement of the Commissioner of Police (CP), Twin Cities on the arrest of prime accused of Anjana Mishra gang rape case and sought a ruling from the Chair. Raising the issue in the House, Leader of Opposition ( LoP) Pradipta Kumar Naik said the Police Commissioner had said that the Commissionerate could arrest the prime accused of the gang rape case after 22 years, while the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has failed to do so. Naik said that as per rule, an officer cannot draw comparison between state government and Centre while addressing the press. But the CP boasted about his Commissionerate's achievements and denigrated the failure of the CBI. "We condemn such statement and seek a ruling from the Chair to ask the police officer to tender apology and not to repeat such mistake," said the LoP.
