Bhadrak, Aug 29: Mallilata Das, lady supervisor of office CDPO in Bhadrak Block was arrested on Sunday for allegedly acquiring assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Das simultaneous house searches were conducted at four places in Bhadrak district on Tuesday by four teams of Balasore Vigilance Division comprising.
A five storeyed building and a four storeyed building-cum-shops and three plots at Samaraipur, Bhadrak town, a four wheeler, an auto, two motorcycles, assets/stock in four storeyed building-cum-shops over Rs 1.13 crore, bank deposits over Rs 1.96 lakh, insurance deposits over Rs 1.83 lakh and other movable and immovable properties, all totalling to over Rs 2.63 crore were unearthed during the house search.
After thorough search, the income, expenditure and assets of Das, Lady Supervisor were calculated and she was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 1,32,44,709 which constitutes 113% of her known sources of income.
As she was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which she could not account for satisfactorily, a case was registered against her. In course of investigation, today Das and her husband have been arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore.
