Bhubaneswar, June 19: In a major crackdown, the Income Tax (IT) department conducted coordinated raids at 19 locations linked to the late Naba Kishore Das, former Health Minister of Odisha, early on Thursday morning.
The raids, which began at 5:00 am, are part of an investigation into alleged tax evasion activities.
According to sources, the IT department targeted properties in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bhubaneswar, and Delhi associated with Naba Das. However, raids at his office were temporarily stalled as his daughter, Dipali Das, is reportedly in Puri. Once she returns, three offices connected to the family will also be raided.
This morning's raids were focused on multiple residences of Naba Das as part of an ongoing investigation into his financial dealings.
Earlier, a similar raid was conducted at his brother's house as part of the broader probe into the family's financial activities. The IT department’s efforts aim to uncover potential financial irregularities and uncover any possible tax evasion schemes.
Among the places raided is the former minister’s old residence in Modipada, Sambalpur, and his bar located in Balupali. The IT department is reviewing various financial records and documents to investigate potential tax evasion and money laundering activities.
Further details about the raids are awaited as investigations continue.
