Bhubaneswar, April 20: In view of resurgence of Covid-19 cases, the Health Department today issued an SOP on infection control measures in hospitals.
As per the SOP, the health care institutes have been asked to create a separate fever clinic and isolation zone in hospitals for screening of ILI / SARI cases.
All patients coming to the hospital would be screened and triaged observing all IPC protocol while all hospitals have been directed to ensure adequate hand washing.
The other directions include use of mask and social distancing, use of PPE by health care professionals as per guideline, safe handling and disinfection of patient care equipment’s as per protocol and Covid waste management as per guideline issued.
“When positive cases are detected in any section of the hospital the other patients of the room must be shifted temporarily to another room. The room must be sanitized and terminally cleaned and can be reused closing down for 24 hours. No life threatening procedure / treatment shall be denied or deferred on the ground of suspicion of Covid infection or non-availability of Covid test report,” read the SOP.
