Bhubaneswar, Aug 14: Shyni, the Inspector General of Police for the Crime Against Women and Children Wing, has announced a new initiative aimed at preventing suicides and self-harm in the state. Speaking about the campaign, she emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between all departments to raise awareness and address the root causes of such incidents.
"We are running an awareness campaign in collaboration with all departments to prevent self-harm and suicide. We have also urged officials to take a proactive approach in addressing the grievances of children, girls, and women, ensuring that their concerns are resolved at the district level," Shyni stated.
She also reassured the public that if anyone feels their concerns are not being addressed or if they are dissatisfied with the district police’s response, they are welcome to approach her office directly for justice.
Shyni further added, "We are committed to conducting more focused awareness campaigns in the future. For now, district and range officers have already begun these campaigns, and I believe they will foster a positive atmosphere in society, helping to prevent further such incidents as much as possible."
The initiative is expected to bring greater attention to the issues faced by women and children, and aims to provide them with a more accessible and responsive system for redressal.
