The two-day event featured over 300 certified dogs, including both exotic and indigenous breeds, all recognized by the Kennel Club of India (KCI).

The show was inaugurated by Prithwiraj Harichandan, Odisha's Minister for Law, Excise, and Works, and attracted a global audience of dog lovers.

The event saw participation from various dog breeds, ranging from the tiny Chihuahua (5–8 inches in height) to the majestic Great Dane (28–32 inches).

The prestigious competition was judged by two renowned international experts, Tina Peixoto from Portugal and Antoan Hlebarov from Bulgaria.

"This show provides an excellent opportunity for the people of Odisha to familiarize themselves with over 35 dog breeds recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), the world’s leading canine organization," said Siddharth Mohanty, Honorary Secretary of OKC.

In the 65th show, the Best in Show title went to a female American Cocker Spaniel owned by Pallab Saha from Kolkata, while the 66th show crowned a female Chihuahua, owned by Ritesh Varma of Bombay, as the Best in Show.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Pankaj Mohanty, MD of MGM, Suesen Panda, Dean of the OUAT Veterinary College, and the international judges.

Rabindra Sahu, Joint Secretary of OKC, emphasized the importance of educating the public about selecting the right breed for their living environment.

“Our platform allows people to explore 41 different dog breeds, helping them make informed decisions when choosing a dog for their home, apartment, or farm,” he explained. The event not only highlighted the diversity of dog breeds but also served as a valuable resource for potential dog owners.
