Bhubaneswar, April 8: Health Minister of Odisha Naba Kishore Das today said the state may witness shortage of Covid vaccines since the existing stock is going to run out soon. Non-receipt of new vaccine by next Thursday evening might affect mass vaccination drive from Saturday, said Das. According to the minister, Odisha needs 2.5 doses of Covid-19 vaccine every day. Accordingly, the state is having less number of vaccines which will at best last for one or two days. On the other hand, 0.5 percent doses of vaccines have gone wastage for wear and tear. As a result, the state has written to the Centre to deliver 25 lakh vaccines as soon as possible. In fact, no vaccine has been received by the state health department so far. However, he hoped that the Chief Minister may talk to the Prime Minister on the matter today during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's interaction with Chief Ministers, Das added.
