Bhubaneswar, June 19: Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling held a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan to review the diarrhoea outbreak in six districts—Jajpur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara, and Keonjhar.
District officials joined virtually to discuss water supply, sanitation, and hygiene. The Minister stressed drinking boiled water, using ORS, and maintaining cleanliness. He also pushed for awareness campaigns via SHGs and IEC drives until August 8.
Special central and state teams are on the ground disinfecting water sources, monitoring patients, and advising on control measures. ASHA and Anganwadi workers are ensuring water safety, while PHEO is cleaning and testing water sources.
School vacations have been extended in affected areas, and inspections are underway at eateries and shops. Daily water testing is being coordinated with multiple departments.
Dr. Mahaling urged vigilance,public cooperation, and affirmed the government’s commitment to tackling the outbreak swiftly.
