Odisha govt to set up 3 rehabilitation shelters for beggars in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Mar 16: The state government has initiated setting up three rehabilitation shelters in Bhubaneswar city for beggars. This was informed by Housing & Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena in the Assembly today in response to a question raised by Biramitrapur MLA Shankar Oram. The three shelter homes are individually meant for women & children, physically challenged and elderly beggars, the minister said. However, the Housing & Urban Development department has no proposal to enact law on the basis of the report submitted by voluntary organisation Odisha Patita Udhar Samiti on Sepember 19, 2006, clarified the UD Minister.
