Bhubaneswar, July 29: Odisha is set to host the National Conference of the Parliamentary Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes after a gap of over three decades. The two-day event will be held on August 29 and 30 at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre in Bhubaneswar.
This landmark gathering will see participation from top policymakers and lawmakers from across the nation. Attendees will include the Chairperson and 30 members of the Parliamentary Committee, along with representatives from SC/ST committees of various state and union territory legislatures, comprising five members and four MLAs.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the conference, while Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and several Union Ministers are also expected to attend.
A preparatory meeting chaired by the Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly was held earlier today to review arrangements for the event.
Sharing insights with the media, the Secretary of the Odisha Assembly highlighted the importance of the conference in shaping inclusive governance and strengthening welfare measures for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
The conference aims to foster collaborative dialogue among legislatures, focusing on the holistic development and empowerment of SC/ST communities across the country.
