Odisha Govt plans redevelopment of Mahima Temple in Joranda, Dhenkanal

The Odisha Government has announced plans to redevelop the Mahima Temple in Joranda, Dhenkanal, the principal seat of Mahima Dharma. A high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg at Lok Seva Bhawan, discussed the construction of a grand temple structure surrounding the existing Sunya Mandir, a unique idol-less shrine.

Bhubaneswar, January 20: The Odisha Government has announced plans to redevelop the Mahima Temple in Joranda, Dhenkanal, the principal seat of Mahima Dharma. A high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg at Lok Seva Bhawan, discussed the construction of a grand temple structure surrounding the existing Sunya Mandir, a unique idol-less shrine.

The development plan includes upgrades to key facilities, such as the Akhanda Jyoti Mandir, Bhajan Mandap, prayer hall, and temple pond. Additionally, modern infrastructure like pilgrim accommodation, a kitchen, and parking facilities will be built.

Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh shared that the plan was developed after consulting with Mahima Dharma followers to align with spiritual traditions.

The project is expected to be completed in three years and aims to enhance religious tourism in Odisha.

Dhenkanal District Collector Ashish Ishwar Patil and other officials also attended the meeting.
