βββββββBhubaneswar, June 6: The Odisha government on Friday launched a comprehensive roadmap to expand Agrivoltaics (AgriPV) and strengthen climate-resilient development across the state during a high-level workshop held in Bhubaneswar.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, who is also Agriculture Minister, inaugurated the event and highlighted the potential of AgriPV to enhance farmers’ incomes while supporting Odisha’s clean energy ambitions under the Viksit Odisha 2036 6vision.
Several key initiatives were unveiled during the workshop, including the report“Empowering Farmers through AgriPV” prepared by GRIDCO Ltd. and Vasudha Foundation, the Odisha State Energy Action Plan (OSEAP) web platform for long-term energy planning, two 150-metre wind resource assessment masts at Sonapur and Gopalpur in Ganjam district, and battery energy storage purchase agreements for a 125 MW/500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project across six substations.
Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Vishal Kumar Dev said Odisha is pursuing a holistic energy transition strategy focused on renewable energy, storage solutions, and data-driven planning to meet growing power demand. GRIDCO Managing Director Dr. Satyapriya Rath noted that AgriPV, coupled with energy storage and modern planning, can promote sustainable and inclusive growth in rural areas.
The workshop featured discussions on policy frameworks, financing mechanisms, and implementation strategies to accelerate AgriPV adoption, while also showcasing Odisha’s commitment to disaster resilience and sustainable energy-led development.
