Bhubaneswar, June 30: Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said the state is fully prepared to handle the flood situation in northern districts, especially Balasore and Mayurbhanj.
Over 1,100 people have been evacuated from low-lying areas, with temporary shelters providing food, water, and medical aid. Special attention is being given to vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly.
Water levels in rivers like Subarnarekha and Budhabalanga are being closely monitored. ODRAF and fire service teams are on standby, with extra units deployed in Balasore. The Chief Minister is personally overseeing the situation, and NDRF teams are on alert.
Pujari assured that rain has subsided in upstream areas, and floodwaters are flowing smoothly into the Bay of Bengal. Relief efforts are ongoing in the affected villages in Balasore and Mayurbhanj.
