Bhubaneswar, September 19: The Odisha Government is coordinating with the Madhya Pradesh Government and the local administration to facilitate the transportation of the mortal remains of seven Odia tourists who died after being swept away by water in Agar-Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg, upon receiving information about the tragic incident, immediately spoke over the telephone with her Madhya Pradesh counterpart and also contacted the Secretary of the Odisha Government’s Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture.
The Chief Secretary directed officials to maintain continuous coordination with the Madhya Pradesh Government and the local administration and to expedite rescue operations as well as all necessary procedures following the incident.
Expressing deep grief over the loss of lives, Garg prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The Chief Minister of Odisha also directed the concerned officials to take all necessary measures on an urgent basis.
Following the Chief Secretary’s directions, Pritish Panda, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the Odisha Government’s Odisha Family Directorate, visited the families and relatives of the deceased residing at Atmaram Basti, Jayadev Vihar, Unit-16, Bhubaneswar, and gathered details about the victims.

According to information received from the Collector’s Office and District Magistrate of Agar-Malwa district, the seven tourists from Bhubaneswar were swept away in a drain near the Maa Baglamukhi Temple in Nalkheda tehsil of Agar-Malwa district.
The mortal remains have been sent by ambulance/hearse vehicles for transportation to their respective residences in Odisha.
Rahul Jain, Revenue Inspector, Circle Tanodia, Tehsil Agar, has been appointed as the Nodal Officer for coordinating the transportation of the mortal remains. Patwari Anup Rajput has also been deployed to assist him.
Jain, accompanied by a police personnel, will coordinate with the local administration to ensure the safe transportation of the mortal remains by ambulance/hearse vehicles to their respective destinations in Odisha.
He will remain in continuous contact with Pritish Panda, OSD of the Odisha Government, and regularly apprise the Additional Collector and Additional District Magistrate of Agar-Malwa district of the progress.
