Bhubaneswar, Sept 9: The Odisha government has unveiled the draft Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2025, aiming for 50% EV penetration in new registrations by 2030. Building on its 2021 policy, the draft focuses on charging infrastructure, retrofitting, battery recycling, and EV manufacturing.
Key incentives include up to ₹20 lakh for e-buses, ₹18 lakh for heavy trucks, full waiver of road tax and registration fees, and 30% support for retrofitting two- and three-wheelers. Government fleets must shift to EVs within 6–12 months of notification.
The policy also proposes EV charging at fuel stations, OSRTC depots, and highways, along with subsidies for 100 battery-swapping stations. Centres of Excellence will be set up in Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, Berhampur, and Sambalpur, supported by a new State EV Fund. Skill programs will train 500 professionals in EV technologies.
Public feedback is invited within 30 days of notification.
