Odisha govt approves Rs 200 crore package to revamp Kalinga Studio

Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: Odisha government today approved a redevelopment package of Rs 200 crore to revamp the historic Kalinga Studio. Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) will take up the revival work of the studio. The studio is being managed by the Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC). Spread over 25 acres, the studio was established on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar in 1982. It attracted major filmmakers from all over the country during the 1980s and the 1990s. But in course of time, the studio lost out due to poor infrastructure and obsolete equipment. The studio used to have complete facilities for shooting in indoor and outdoor, editing, dubbing, music recording, mixing and B.G.Scroring 16mm, 35mm and dormitories are available for accommodation of shooting units inside the complex. About 490 films so far have been utilized different facilities of the studio.
