Bhubaneswar, October 10: Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, accompanied by wife Jayashree Kambhampati, on Saturday visited Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary district and appreciated its natural beauty and tourism potential.
Spread across Sambalpur and Bargarh districts, Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its diverse wildlife, scenic forests and proximity to the Hirakud reservoir. Its natural beauty and biodiversity make it an important eco-tourism destination in western Odisha.
During the visit, the Governor toured the sanctuary and witnessed wildlife sightings. He appreciated the visitor facilities, infrastructure development and conservation measures taken by the authorities to protect its rich biodiversity.
The Governor also hailed the role of local communities in tourism-related activities. He noted that such initiatives can create employment opportunities while supporting wildlife conservation.
He encouraged people to explore domestic tourist destinations instead of travelling abroad. He stressed the need to promote India’s natural attractions and support local livelihoods through tourism.
The visit highlighted the tourism potential of western Odisha, where rich wildlife, scenic forests and the vast Hirakud reservoir offer opportunities for sustainable tourism and local employment.
The Governor is scheduled to stay overnight at Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary.
