Bhubaneswar, July 4: The world famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings will be celebrated without participation of devotees in Puri this year.
However, devotees have found their own way to celebrate the annual festival with their unique ideas.
Meet Priyanka Sahani, a young woman from Bhubaneswar, who has come up with a unique idea to celebrate the grand event in an artistic way. She has decided to make 108 paintings of Jagannath and his siblings- both miniature and acrylic- on different objects.
Priyanka, who is presently working as a software developer in a Bangalore-based company, has learnt this skill from her late father Bibekananda Sahani.
The techie has drawn images of Lord Jagannath, Balabhra and goddess Subhadra on almond, jackfruit seeds, kidney beans, nutmeg, banana, cinnamon stick, chewing gum, and nails.
She is quite confident on completing her targets befoe Rath Yatra. “I will definitely complete the target before Rath Yatra and currently I am working 10-12 hours a day on the paintings,” Priyanka said.
“ I had gone through depression after the unfortunate demise of my father and then I took to canvas and brushes to get over it,” she added.
