Bhubaneswar, December 28: The Commissionerate police detained four individuals posing as ‘babas’ on Saturday following suspicions of theft.
The suspects, dressed as Godmen, were reportedly soliciting alms from residents in the Maitri Vihar area. According to police, the group raised suspicion after demanding more money when locals offered them Rs 10. Concerned residents promptly alerted authorities, leading to the swift detention of the individuals.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspects hailed from Rajasthan. The police are now verifying their identities and probing their criminal backgrounds.
This development comes amidst heightened concern over recent burglaries and robberies in Bhubaneswar’s residential areas. In response, city police have intensified surveillance to prevent such incidents and ensure public safety.
Further investigation is underway to determine any links between the detained individuals and previous crimes reported in the area.
