Odisha forms expert committee to take decision on use of Tocilizumab and other new drugs for Covid-19

Bhubaneswar, April 30: Odisha government has formed a three-member expert committee to take decision on use of Tocilizumab and other new drugs for Covid-19 patients. As per the notification of the Health department the members of the committee are Bidyut Das, professor Rheumatology of SCB Medical College, Jyoti Pattanaik, professor Pulmonary Medicine of SCB Medical College and P.K Thatoi, associate professor Medicine of SCB Medical College. The committee will function under the supervision of Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET). The committee will examine the records and certify the efficacy of the drug as well as the judiciousness use in the particular case. If considered for use, the recommendation will be made to the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited for the issue of the drug with intimation to the DMET.
