
Bhadrak, Sept 23: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested the former Secretary of Bamanbindha Service Co-operative Society under BBCC Bank Ltd. in Tihidi area of Odisha’s Bhadrak district for allegedly embezzling government funds amounting to Rs 13 lakhs.
The accused has been identified as Sudarsana Khatua.
As per reports, the arrest follows investigations into financial irregularities, where Khatua is accused of manipulating official records to siphon off society funds. The charges include unauthorized withdrawal of savings bank deposits belonging to society members, misappropriating funds by showing lower balances in the Day Book, and inflating Mondi labour charges beyond the government-fixed rates.
The officials registered a case against Khatua under Balasore Vigilance Police Station.
