Odisha: Forester & Gaon Saathi arrested for embezzling over Rs 10 Lakh in govt. funds

Koraput, Nov 26: Odisha Vigilance today arrested a forester and his aide on charges of embezzlement of government funds amounting to Rs 10.6 lakh.
The forester has been identified as Ramesh Chandra Bhatra from the Bagaderi section of the Kundra forest range and Mahendra Khara-Gaon Saathi in Dangarapali village in the district.
Sources said, a total of Rs 10, 60,150, was allocated for forestry operations and both of them were arrested for their involvement in the misappropriation of public funds allocated for the execution of a Cattle Proof Trench in the region.
Following their arrest, the duo was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance in Jeypore. The Odisha Vigilance has filed a case under several sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and other relevant sections, and investigations are ongoing.
This case of financial misconduct is under thorough investigation, with authorities vowing to ensure accountability and transparency in government operations.
