Odisha fisherman turns lakhpati after catching 22-kg Ghol fish

Bhadrak, Oct 2: A fisherman in Bhadrak district became rich overnight after he caught a 22-kilogram fish from Chandanipal of Dhamra in the district. The Ghol fish commonly called as Telia was sold to a trader of West Bengal at a whooping price of Rs 1.43 lakh. As per reports each kilogram of the fish was sold at a price of Rs 6500. The Ghol fish is a type of croaker fish usually found mostly in Indian and Pacific Oceans along the coast of Pakistan, Bangladesh and India. The fish has huge market in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia for its medicinal value. Besides, it is also used for wine purification in Singapore.
