Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC began their AFC Women’s Champions League 2024-25 Group Stage campaign with a disappointing 17-0 defeat against Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies at the Thong Nhat Stadium on Sunday.

Early on, Jennifer showcased a brilliant solo effort down the middle, though her run was ultimately halted by a Urawa defender. Kiran Pisda also displayed commendable performance throughout the match.
After Yu Endo opened the scoring in the fifth minute, the floodgates opened. Miki Ito (56', 59', 62', 90+4') scored four goals while Yuzuho Shiokoshi (15', 18', 30') scored a hat-trick for the Japanese club.
Satoko Fujisaki (9'), Ena Takatsuka (13'), Mei Shimada (17', 44') Ririka Tanno (52'), Akari Kurishima (54'), Fuka Tsunoda (68') and Ami Takeuchi (83') were the other seven scorers. Maryam Juke Ibrahim's 66th-minute own goal accounted for the scoreline.
Despite their collective efforts, Odisha could not find the back of the net. They will be eager to regroup and seek redemption in their next match against Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City Women's FC on Wednesday.
