Bhubaneswar/Mumbai, August 19: Odisha has set its sights on becoming a developed state by 2036, coinciding with the centenary of its formation, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said on Tuesday. The state has also set an ambitious goal of reaching a USD 1.5 trillion GDP by 2047.
Speaking at the sidelines of the 4th CII East India Summit 2025, Deo underlined Odisha’s openness to all forms of investment that can accelerate its economic growth and generate employment opportunities.
“The Prime Minister has set 2047 as the year for India to achieve developed nation status. Odisha, however, is aiming for 2036, marking 100 years of its foundation. We are working to align with national expectations while moving ahead with our own targets,” said Deo, who also heads the Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy departments.
He urged industries to view Odisha as a hub for investment, highlighting the state government’s commitment to fostering growth and job creation.
