Bhubaneswar, August 29: Senior IPS officer Dr. Satyajit Naik formally assumed charge as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Central Range in Odisha’s Cuttack on Friday.
He took over responsibilities from his predecessor Praveen Kumar, IPS.
After taking charge, Dr. Naik visited the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri to seek the divine blessings of the Lord. He was accompanied by Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) Pratik Singh during the visit.
Prior to this posting, Dr. Naik was serving as DIG, Eastern Range, Balasore, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening law and order and spearheading several impactful policing initiatives. His outstanding work in the Eastern Range earned him the Best IPS Officer Award, conferred by Director General of Police Y. B. Khurania earlier this year.
Dr. Naik is widely respected in police circles for his professional excellence, leadership, and dedication to public service. Over the years, he has served in multiple key capacities, including as Superintendent of Police in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Economic Offences Wing (EOW), and other critical assignments.
Apart from his professional achievements, Dr. Naik is also known for his passion for sports and fitness. A seasoned marathon runner, he has successfully participated in several prestigious events such as the Dubai International Marathon, Mumbai Marathon, and other national-level races. His commitment to discipline and endurance both in policing and athletics has inspired many within and outside the force.
With his assumption of charge in Cuttack, Dr. Naik is expected to bring his rich experience and dynamic approach to policing in the Central Range, further strengthening law enforcement and ensuring public safety in the region.
