Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: The Odisha government has entrusted 50 Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers with special responsibilities to ensure the smooth execution of the 18th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), a flagship event honouring the contributions of the Indian diaspora.
As per an order from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, these officers will serve as Liaison Officers under the Industries Department. They are directed to report to the Principal Secretary of the Industries Department on 5th January.
The mega event, scheduled to be held at Janata Maidan, is anticipated to draw over 5,000 delegates from around the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event, while President Droupadi Murmu, a proud native of Odisha, will attend the closing ceremony. This platform will not only connect with overseas Indians but also promote collaboration in nation-building efforts.
In preparation for the event, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has requested the state government to secure a minimum of 4,500 hotel rooms to accommodate the influx of international delegates. Odisha is leaving no stone unturned to showcase its hospitality and ensure the event’s success, positioning itself as a gracious host for this prestigious occasion.
