Odisha Declared Maoist-Free, Says DGP Y.B. Khurania

Bhubaneswar, April 17: Odisha has officially been declared a Maoist-free state, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania.

Speaking to the media in Cuttack, the DGP emphasized that the sustained anti-Maoist operations and a series of surrenders by extremists have successfully eradicated Left Wing Extremism from the state.

“We have not withdrawn police camps in areas once dominated by Maoists, but we can confidently say that Odisha is now free from Maoist activities,” Khurania stated.

However, he made it clear that while the state has achieved this significant milestone, Odisha remains on high alert. Vigilance is being maintained along the borders, with activities in neighboring states being closely monitored to prevent any potential spillover or infiltration.

This achievement comes after years of intensive efforts by various forces, including the Odisha Police, Special Operations Group, District Volunteer Force, the CRPF, and other central agencies. Despite the success, police camps in areas once considered high-risk continue to operate to ensure long-term stability in the region.Bottom of Form
