Odisha debt burden expected to reach Rs 1,06,540 cr by 2020-21 end

Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: The debt burden of Odisha is expected to reach Rs 1,06,540.14 crore by the end of 2020-21. The loan burden of the state was Rs 92,775.18 crore by 2019-21 and estimated to take Rs 13,765.05 crore loan by end of this financial year. This was informed today by Odisha Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari in the state Assembly. The amount will be borrowed mainly from Government of India, open market, NABARD, Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation’s CAMPA fund and the provident fund, the minister apprised the House. Similarly, the state government has estimated to collect tax revenue of Rs 32,500 crore and nontax revenue Rs 21,000 of its own. Further, the state will get its share Rs 25,459.63 crore from Central tax and Rs 28,240.37 from Central sanctions, the minister said.
