State cricket officials master updated regulations during their training at Kataka
Cricket match officials from across Odisha assembled at Barabati Stadium in Kataka for an intensive two-day rules workshop organized by the Odisha Cricket Association. Held on September 12 and 13, 2026, at the OCA Conference Hall, the specialized program gathered 106 certified umpires representing multiple district units. Participants worked through updated field regulations, evolving playing conditions, and key match protocols recently established by both the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the International Cricket Council.
District officials align with global cricket standards
Elite level educators guided participants through real-match decision-making scenarios, focusing on edge-case rulings and technology-assisted officiating. Senior BCCI umpires Subrat Das and Arun Kumar Basa led the instructional modules alongside panel educators Dhiraj Singh and Durgadutta Das. Their practical sessions broke down recent shifts in playing conditions so state umpires can enforce rules uniformly during upcoming domestic tournaments.
Odisha Cricket Association Chief Executive Officer Subrat Kumar Behera joined the opening phase as guest speaker to emphasise the need for professional integrity and sharp field presence. Kataka has long served as the administrative heartbeat of cricket in Odisha, making Barabati Stadium the natural hub for building strong technical infrastructure before district tournaments begin. Behera urged attendees to consistently apply these national standards across every tier of grassroots competition, ensuring fair play remains paramount in state matches.
