Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: A possible third wave of Covid-19 may strike Odisha early and could peak by February end, informed Odisha Health Director Bijay Kumar Mohapatra on Tuesday.
“Odisha saw delayed 1st & 2nd wave in comparison to other states. As per ICMR, if 3rd wave arrives, it’ll strike Odisha early and may peak in Feb end. We’re prepared as per govt guidelines”, said Bijay Kumar Mohapatra.
“We are focusing more on surveillance, testing, treatment and vaccination. Daily infections are being closely monitored. The Health Department is ready to face the possible third wave”, added Mohapatra.
Worth mentioning, Odisha so far has reported 8 Omicron positive cases. Similarly, India has reported a total of 653 Omicron cases. The Omicron cases have been reported across 21 states and union territories.
