Jagatsingpur, May 20: A Covid infected son carried his mother’s body on a trolley for last rites in Jagatsinghpur district on Wednesday. Kishore Rout of Talakusuma village carried his mother’s body on a trolley and performed her last rites alone. Sources said, the elder son of Padmabati Rout, her daughter-in-law and the grandson are admitted to the Corona hospital at Cuttack. At the same time the youngest son is in home isolation after he tested Corona positive. Meanwhile, Padmabati (70) fell down from the verandah at the front yard of her house while sitting. Nobody picked her up from the village street despite a number of villagers were present there. At the same time, Kishore did not touch her, if Corona would contaminate his mother. Being unattended for a long time Padmabati succumbed to bleeding injuries on the village street. Subsequently, Kishore appealed the villagers to help in performing the last rites of his mother, but failed to convince them. They all left for their homes fearing that her mother’s death is due to Corona. Facing non-cooperation from neighbors and relatives after a long wait, Kishore carried her mother’s body to the graveyard loading on a trolley and performed her cremation all alone.
