Odisha contractual Covid warrior begs in PPE kit, video goes viral

Bhadrak, Feb 14: A contractual Covid warrior of Bhadrak was seen begging wearing PPE kit protesting dismissal from job after completion of three-month contract period. The video is doing rounds on social media. Ashwini Padhi was appointed along with hundreds of pharmacists during Covid pandemic by the state government on a contract basis for three months. After Covid situation came under control the government did not extend the contract period following which they lost their job. However, the spectators were quite confused with the strange man, his strange dress-code and strange activities of the concerned man for a long time. While responding to an eager commuter, Padhi said that he is a Covid warrior who rendered selfless service towards fighting the deadly pandemic for 9 months. He had dedicated his life for the mankind while others stayed indoors only with a minimal honorarium. He grieved saying, he was then retrenched since Covid-19 infection came under control. At present, “I have no option but to collect alms to feed the kids”, said the paramedic with tears in eyes. The tragic episode of the health professional has gone viral, humming up a great response.
