Bhubaneswar, May 3: A construction worker was killed when a concrete mixer overturned at a bridge construction site in Tilisingi village, Ganjam district, on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Madan Singh (40), hailed from Latehar district in Jharkhand. He was trapped under debris after the mixer lost balance around 3 p.m while construction work was underway. The concrete mixer reportedly lost its balance, causing it to overturn. Several workers in the vicinity were trapped and partially buried under debris.
The driver of the mixer, Prabhanjan Mallick from Bhadrak district, managed to leap out of the vehicle in time, sustaining only minor injuries. He received first aid on-site.
A fire brigade team worked for three hours, using JCB machines to recover Singh’s body.
Senior police officers, including SDPO and Bhanjanagar IIC arrived at the scene to begin an investigation into the cause of the accident.
