Bhubaneswar, June 10: Odisha Congress MLA Mangu Khilla sustained minor injuries after a tree toppled onto his vehicle during a storm in Malkangiri district on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the afternoon while Khilla was travelling along the forest stretch connecting Chitrakonda and Balimela. Strong winds accompanying the storm uprooted a large tree, which fell directly onto the moving SUV.

Speaking to reporters after the incident, Khilla said the tree landed on the bonnet of the vehicle due to the high-speed winds. He noted that the occupants had a narrow escape and suffered only minor injuries.

The mishap highlights the risks posed by adverse weather conditions in forested areas, particularly during storms and high winds.
