Bhubaneswar, October 5: The newly-appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge A Chella Kumar is scheduled to visit Odisha tomorrow. This will be his first visit to Odisha after his new appointment last month. Party sources said Chella Kumar will be discussing about the nomination of party candidates for by-election  to Tirtol and Balasore assembly constituencies, scheduled to be held on November 3 and is expected to steer the party campaign. Meanwhile, senior BJD leader and Pipili MLA Pradeeep Maharathy passed away at the wee hours yesterday, leaving another vacancy in the assembly. Chella Kumar, the lone party MP from Tamil Nadu, has in the meanwhile taken over as AICC-in charge of Odisha replacing Jitendra Singh, who was looking after the state  since March 30, 2018. Chella Kumar's appointment came last month in the wake of demand for change in the party leadership in the state following party's debacle in 2019 general elections and subsequent by-elections in Bijepur and Patkura assembly constituencies. His visit tomorrow was expected to invigorate the demoralised party apparatus in the State. Meanwhile, the two upcoming by-elections have geared up the party cadres in the state.
